Bridging Cultures – The LifeCraft Academy® Helps International Students Settle into Hungarian University Life
LifeCraft Academy specializes in life skills “Uni Workshops” that combine practical know-how with hands-on experience. From mastering bureaucracy to unlocking best practices, our programs help you navigate challenges with confidence.
Life abroad comes with many hurdles – especially for international students. So our workshops are designed to not only teach essential life skills but also foster intercultural competence , helping you connect with your community and build meaningful relationships.
Uni Workshop
Resilience, effective communication, and navigating cultural differences – these are just a few of the key topics explored in the UNI workshops offered by LifeCraft Academy® (Életrevaló Akadémia) at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Pécs (PTE MIK). Aimed at international students, these workshops provide practical tools and fresh perspectives to help them handle the challenges of university life.
Life skills are essential, but often underrepresented in traditional education due to time and resource constraints. That’s where LifeCraft Academy® steps in. With a team of educators and psychologists, and in line with WHO and UNICEF recommendations, the Academy has developed a curriculum and methodology that supports young people in building the skills they need to thrive. Their mission is to mentor a creative generation that can think critically, face real-world challenges, and prepare for adult life with confidence. By translating everyday situations into relatable scenarios and using interactive methods, they teach solution- and value-oriented behavior in a hands-on, engaging way.
Since its founding in 2021, the Academy’s experienced team has built an innovative and comprehensive educational program that goes beyond traditional frameworks. Co-created with students, this program focuses on developing real-life skills through interactive workshops.
For international students at PTE MIK, LifeCraft Academy® offers three main UNI workshops:
1. “TAKE-OFF”
Designed for newly arrived international students, this workshop focuses on helping them integrate into life in Pécs. In English, students learn essential life skills that support everyday living. Through teamwork and guided discussions, they explore daily challenges and collaborate with Academy staff to find practical solutions.
2. “NAVIGATION”
This workshop focuses on building life skills that support successful adaptation to change. Topics include managing exam stress, handling failure and conflict, increasing cultural awareness, and tackling homesickness. It also covers practical aspects of daily life in Hungary, such as understanding payment systems, types of bank accounts, and how to manage utility bills.
3. “LANDING”
Here, students are encouraged to think ahead and plan their medium- and long-term goals. They practice decision-making, goal-setting, and learn how to find internship opportunities that align with their career plans. Practical skills are further developed through unique tools like the offline simulation board game “Flatmate,” which teaches essential co-living and life management skills in a fun, interactive way.

Uni Workshop No. 3 - LANDING
StaP
LifeCraft Academy® also runs the StaP – Student Tips Assistance Program. This personalized support program helps international students with important everyday matters such as legal issues, healthcare, housing, and insurance. Through an English-language survey, they gather feedback and requests from students, using the insights to improve services that make adjusting to life in Hungary easier and more manageable.
